Margie Louise (Hoppe) Dahlgran, daughter of Frederick I. and Emma V. (Outhet) Hoppe, was born on April 2, 1929, in Gretna, Kansas. Following her graduation from Agra High School, she began teaching in the local rural school several years. She then began taking the train to Lincoln, Nebraska with several girlfriends to work at Russell Stovers. In Lincoln she met her first husband and after their marriage they moved to Omaha. When her firstborn son, who was blind, started to school at the Nebraska State School for the Visually Handicapped, she then moved to Nebraska City. Margie worked as a seamstress for over 20 years with Pendleton Woolen Mills. While there, she met Harold Dahlgran and in 1978 they combined their two families together. She then made a wonderful life together on Harold’s farm in Riverton until his retirement and they moved together to Shenandoah.

Margie worked at Wal-Mart as a greeter for over 17 years. During her time there she met many friends. She was an active member and Deacon with the First Presbyterian Church in Shenandoah. It brought her the most joy to go on visitation to nursing homes and to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren during their family gatherings.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, son Roger L. Merritt, grandsons, Christopher Merritt, Andrew Parker and Aaron Merritt, daughter-in-law Yolanda Merritt, step-son-in-law Hugh Berry and siblings, Fred Hoppe and Marie Powell.
