Lois Leon Hoppe, 93, of Grand Island, formerly of Farnam, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Tiffany Square Nursing Home in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Farnam. The Rev. William Deahl will officiate. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg. Memorials are suggested to the Farnam Senior Center or Farnam Methodist Church. Mrs. Hoppe was born July 29, 1907, to Robert and Maude (Todd) McLaughlin at Moorefield. She attended Moorefield schools, graduating from Moorefield High School. She attended Kearney State College for two years. She married Edwin H. Hoppe on Jan. 16, 1928, at St. Francis, Kan. They lived at Stratton, later moving to a farm in Kansas before settling in the Farnam-Moorefield area where they lived for many years. Mr. Hoppe died on May 28, 1996. She enjoyed working in her garden, African violets, canning, quilting, tatting, crocheting and knitting. She was a member of the Farnam Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Glen of Doniphan; two daughters, Mary Ellen (Mrs. Rex) Stewart of Bella Vista, Ark. and Carol Warner of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Helen Hosick of Curtis and Roberta McLaughlin of Hastings; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
