Muriel Joy Otis, 96, died Nov. 3, 2015, at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born Dec. 12, 1918, in rural Hodgeman County, the fifth of 10 children, to Leslie Clifford and Elsie Josephine (Henry) Koontz. She graduated from Hanston High School and attended Ft. Hays State, where she met Frederick Charles Otis. They were married March 21, 1942, and to this union were born two sons and two daughters. Muriel was a homemaker and teacher and worked in retail. She was a member of Sasnak, the Sacred Literature Club and Circle #5, UMW. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Kenneth; six sisters; and three brothers. Muriel is survived by a son, James (Darlene) Otis of Hutchinson; two daughters, Janet (David) Nease of Salina and Joy (Joe) Caples of Shawnee; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at the 1st United Methodist Church, Salina. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, in the Agra Cemetery, Agra, Kan. Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, from noon to 8 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
