Virgil Lowell Powell, 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Big Horn Rehabilitation and Care Center in Sheridan, WY. He was born March 5, 1938 at Gregory, South Dakota.

On June 2, 1960 Virgil was united in marriage to Marie Hoppe in Omaha. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together before Marie’s passing in 2016.

Virgil was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Ware; parents-in-law, Fred and Emma Hoppe; sister-in-law, Margie Dahlgren; and brother-in-law, Fred Hoppe. He is survived by daughter Meshelle (Arlin) Cooper of Sheridan, Wyoming; and brother-in-law Ed Hoppe of Agra, Kansas.
