Travelled twelve miles. In camp on Coon River, this is a small river. We crossed on a rope ferry. We are encamped on an island close to Adel, the county seat of Dallas County, it is a nice place containing about seven hundred inhabitants. We packed three hundred pounds of hay to knight to feed with a distance of one and a half miles.
