The second child and oldest daughter, Louise, was born on June 1, 1863 in Bantorf, Germany. She was six years old at the time the family came to Nebraska. On March 16, 1886 she was married to Herman Henry Conerus in the Hoppe home. Herman was born April 28, 1856 in Cleverns, Germany.

The Conerus family lived in Fairbury where Herman owned a shoe shop on the west side of the Courthouse Square. He died April 19, 1919 in Fairbury and is buried in the Fairbury Cemetery.

To this family were born five children, all girls: Sophie Margaretha, January 18, 1887; Anna Hermiene, December 7, 1888; Emma Sophie Caroline, March 18, 1892; Antoinette Anna Wilhelmine (Nettie), May 12, 1894; and May, May 5, 1896, who died at the age of 11 months.

Grandmother Sophie Hoppe lived with the Conerus family for about two years before her death in 1911. Louise died April 3, 1944 in Fairbury and is buried in the Fairbury Cemetery.
