Henry, Edwin and Marie Hoppe
The youngest son and fourth child, Henry, was born April 19, 1871 on the homestead in Jefferson County, Nebraska. He was married on September 30, 1897 at Deshler, Nebraska to Marie Fangemeier. Marie was born May 18, 1876 in Germany.
Henry and Marie lived near Deshler, Gilead and Nelson, Nebraska until about 1911 when they moved onto the Hoppe homestead. In 1920 they sold the farm and moved to California, living in Pomona and Glendale. Henry was a shoe shop proprietor at the time of his death on September 13, 1935 in Glendale. He is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Two children were born to them: Alvin, April 17, 1899 and Henri Edwin, June 27, 1903. A daughter, Marie Catharine, born August 9, 1903 was adopted by Henry and Marie. Alvin died at the age of three while the family lived at Nelson, Nebraska.
Marie moved back to Nebraska sometime after Henry’s death and she died on March 15, 1959 at Gilead, Nebraska. She is buried near there.
