The youngest child, Sophie, was born at the family home in Jefferson County on February 7, 1875. She was married to George Sellenrick on February 7, 1899 at St. Paul’s Church. George was born October 29, 1873 at Holzhausen, Germany. His parents were farmers in the Cub Creek vicinity.
After their marriage, Sophie and George lived with Grandmother Hoppe on the homestead for a few years before building their own place. Grandmother lived with them for a time before moving to the Conerus home. The Sellenrick’s lived and worked on their farm most of their lives. Sophie died on January 9, 1946 in Fairbury and George died on October 4, 1955 in Lenexa, Kansas. They are buried in Cub Creek Cemetery of St. Paul’s Church.
To this marriage seven children were born: Arthur August Gottlieb, November 5, 1899; Alma Louise Ida, September 25, 1901; Herbert Henry Herman, March 25, 1904; Clarence Louie Frederick, September 4, 1906; Raymond Gerald Leslie, April 27, 1909; Sophie Evelyn Henrietta, August 4, 1910; and Wilmer Leo Emil, February 15, 1912.
